On Tuesday, September 15, 2020, Blazer Brand traveled to a suburban townhome community in Ashburn, VA. Our mission was to equip 158 trash and recycling bins with our patented product, the Strong Strap.
In four hours, we were able to install Strong Straps on different trash cans ranging from 48–96 gallons in size. We also found time to chat with community members about how their trash could be better. Specifically, how it could be cleaner on trash day.
Residents described common problems such as:
- Strong winter winds causing litter
- Unsightly overflowing waste and recycling carts
- Birds pecking away at exposed bags
These problems contributed to a mess in an otherwise clean community.
Some residents were concerned about trash washing away down storm drains. They wanted to build better habits that could be passed along to their children.
